Speaking Your Truth is the most
powerful tool we all have
— oprah

“Most of my life, unbeknownst to me, I had been posing and pretending. Pretending I could do it all on my own. Fear had locked up my soul, locked up my true self. Living out of my false self meant working hard to be what I thought every one else needed and wanted me to be. Suddenly I was 30 something and had no idea what was true for me in this world. I was afraid of disappointing, breaking the rules, being wrong, not being enough for someone. All this sent me on a long journey looking for something that would make me feel enough. I used men, popularity, great jobs, affirmation, acceptance, and on and on, to fill the void. Shame always came back and reminded me that none of it was enough. I blamed others, hurt others, hid from others. And still a void.

In the middle of all this desperation I started working with someone who gently yet assertively and honestly taught me about shame, about my true self while loving and accepting me right where I was. I went from a co-dependent, self-loathing, people pleasing girl to freedom as an emotional adult. (most days!)

I am passionate about therapy, and helping others experience the freedom that comes from exploring ourselves. So many of us don’t even know that we are walking around trying to live out of our false selves. To me therapy is about digging around to figure out why we continue to do the things we do to fill the void and learning instead to welcome love and acceptance."
